Couple found unconscious in Walmart parking lot with syringes in their hands

33-year-old Michael Pruitte and 35-year-old Jesica Cook were charged with drug paraphernalia, possession of meth, simple possession, and public intoxication when police found them passed out in a vehicle with syringes in their hands.

On August 4th, Officer Carver was on patrol around 300 Pleasant Grove Road, the Walmart in Mount Juliet, when he discovered two adults unconscious in a vehicle in the parking lot. The officer approached the vehicle and noted that there was a male, Michael Pruitte, and a female, Jesica Cook inside.

Both Cook and Pruitte had passed out with exposed hypodermic syringes in their hands. The officer reported that it took several attempts in order to wake them both up. Officer contacted the Wilson Emergency Management Agency to check out both individuals, but they refused medical treatment.

Officers searched the vehicle and found in the center console a cigarette pack containing a white crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine and a spoon in the console often used to consume meth. During their search, they also found two plastic baggies with a white residue on them under the driver seat, and a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana wrapped in paper, along with a pack of rolling paper in an eyeglass case. The officer noted that Pruitte claimed ownership of the meth inside of the cigarette pack.

Michael Pruitte was arrested and charged with drug paraphernalia, possession of meth, and public intoxication. His bond was set at $1,000.

Jesica Cook was arrested and charged with drug paraphernalia, simple possession, and public intoxication. She was later released on her own recognizance.
