Man admits to flashing gun to scare friend into paying what she owes

44-year-old Johnathan Bussey was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and public intoxication when he flashed a gun in order to “scare” his friend into giving him the money she owed.

On September 11th, Lebanon Police Officer Tucker Robert responded to a call to investigate an armed subject located at 411 Winwood Drive. Upon arrival, Officer Robert spoke with Jonathan Bussey who said “the gun is in the car.” Jonathan was immediately detained. Officer Robert spoke with Amanda Smith and John Burrow who advised that Jonathan pulled up in the driveway shortly after they did.

They told police that Jonathan got out of the vehicle and raised his shirt to reveal the silver slide and a black handle of a gun. Officer Robert received consent from Jonathan to search his vehicle and found an S&W .40-caliber handgun. After he was explained his Miranda Rights, Jonathan admitted that he wanted to scare Amanda into giving him the money that she owed him. Officer Robert noted that Jonathan had a strong odor of alcohol on his person, his eyes were red and watering, and that his speech was slurred.

Johnathan Bussey was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, and public intoxication. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $6,000 bond.
