Man driving on flat tire charged with DUI after telling officer the wrong time

33-year-old Trung Nguyen was charged with his first driving under the influence when police pulled him over to help him with his flat tire and officers noticed he smelled of alcoholic beverage.

On September 20th, Field Training Officer (FTO) Lutz of the Mt. Juliet Police Department (MJPD) noticed a vehicle traveling on South Mt. Juliet Road with a flat tire. A traffic stop was conducted at 236 S. Mt. Juliet road so that FTO Lutz could help with the tire.

FTO Lutz advised that Trung Nguyen exited the vehicle and smelled strongly of alcohol. FTO Lutz asked Nguyen if he knew what time it was to which Nguyen replied “11 p.m.” but it was actually 3 a.m. Nguyen admitted to the officer that he had been drinking at home and showed obvious signs of impairment on the field sobriety tests FTO Lutz administered.

Trung Nguyen was arrested and charged with DUI first offense and his bond was set at $2,000.
