Would-be thief uses store’s display luggage in attempt to steal over $1,500 in goods

49-year-old April Reddick was charged with theft after she was caught on camera packing over $1,500 worth of merchandise into an off the shelf suitcase at Belk.

On August 29th, Mount Juliet Police Officer Troutman arrived at Belk, located at 401 Mt. Juliet Road, in response to a theft in progress. Loss Prevention Officer Chris Miller explained that a person in the store, later identified as April Reddick, had been hiding merchandise in a suitcase which she had removed from a display within the store.

When approached by police and loss prevention, Reddick dropped the suitcase abruptly. She admitted that there were items in the suitcase. The total amount for all items in the suitcase was $1532.28.

April Reddick was arrested and charged with theft over $1,000. She is currently jailed in lieu of a $3,000 bond.
