Girlfriend says man shot himself during argument; he insists it was another man

24-year-old Tyler Howe was charged with aggravated assault, possession of meth, and false report after shooting himself during an argument with his girlfriend and telling officers that an unidentified man shot him.

On September 26th, Lebanon Police Officer Hulse was dispatched to a self-inflicted gunshot call at Dix’s Motor Lodge. The caller stated that they heard a male and female arguing inside the room before hearing a gunshot. They observed the male then exit the room with a gunshot wound to his leg. Upon arrival, Officer Hulse made contact with Tyler Howe, who stated that an unidentified male subject shot him in the leg. Wilson Emergency Management Agency (WEMA) transported him to receive medical treatment.

The officer later made contact with Anna Gaston who stated that during an argument with her boyfriend, Tyler, he shot himself in the leg with a pistol. Anna took the pistol and the drugs Tyler had and hid them outside of the room in a storage container. Officers found a plastic baggy, inside the container, which held a Sccy Industries CPX-1 with the serial number filed off. Also in the baggy was a glass pipe, a metal grinder, two plastic baggies containing what officers believed to be methamphetamine, and a rolled marijuana joint. After the officer searched Tyler’s room and found a glass bong in the nightstand beside the bed.

Tyler Howe was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and marijuana as well as aggravated assault, alteration of a serial number, violation of probation, and false report. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $16,500 bond.
