Man admits to having 3 beers prior to driving after being pulled over for drifting

27-year-old James Maberry was charged with DUI and possession of a firearm while intoxicated after a deputy pulled him over for drifting in and out of his lane.

On October 15th, Wilson County Sheriff’s Deputy Lanius conducted a traffic stop when he noticed that James Maberry could not stay in his own lane while driving. When the deputy approached the car, he noticed that James smelled like he had been drinking, had red watery eyes, and was slurring his words.

When asked if he had anything to drink, James admitted to having three beers before he drove. James then poorly performed several field sobriety tests, showing that he was intoxicated. The deputy then found a loaded handgun in his pocket while patting him down.

James Maberry was arrested and charged with his second DUI and possession of a handgun while under the influence. He was released on a $1,500 bond.
