Man breaks woman’s phone after “talking to another man,” who was her father

53-year-old David Howell was charged with domestic assault and vandalism after screaming at his roommate, scaring her, and breaking her phone when he thought she was talking to another man.

On October 18th, Mt. Juliet Police Officer Jordan Brown responded to a domestic disturbance call at the residence of 61 East Caldwell Street. Upon arrival, Officer Brown made contact with Tonya Clemmons. She stated she was inside the residence with David Howell when they got into an argument. She advised Howell kept getting angrier and was screaming in her face.

Clemmons informed Officer Brown that Howell had a history of domestic violence so she was scared of him assaulting her and called her father on her phone. Howell saw her make the call and believed she was talking to another man. He demanded she hang up the phone and when she refused, he grabbed it, threw the phone, and broke it against the wall.

David Howell was arrested and charged with domestic assault and vandalism. He was released on his own recognizance.
