Man charged with DUI after finding the middle ground between sleeping and driving

25-year-old Jacob Polman was charged with DUI after he fell asleep in his car that was stopped in the middle of the street.

On October 3rd, Lebanon Police Officer Martin was dispatched to Alison Drive in Lebanon for a suspicious vehicle that was parked and running in the street. Upon arrival, Officer Martin noticed Jacob Polman asleep in his vehicle with his foot on the brake while still. The vehicle was sitting in the middle of the street.

The officer then placed the vehicle in park and turned it off as Jacob continued to sleep. After several attempts to wake him, Jacob came to and believed he was in Mt. Juliet. The officer noticed the strong odor of alcohol on and about his breath and person. Jacob’s speech slurred and he was unsteady on his feet. Jacob was offered several field sobriety tests of which he performed poorly.

Jacob Polman was arrested and charged with DUI and was released on his own recognizance with conditions.
