38-year-old Daniel Bitner was charged with domestic assault and interfering with an emergency call after he took his wife and daughter’s phone during an assault so they would not call the police.
On October 20th, Mt. Juliet Police K-9 Officer Barth responded to a possible domestic call at a residence located 4147 G N Mt. Juliet Road. Per the affidavit, Officer Barth heard screaming from the road and saw two individuals arguing in the driveway. Officer Barth made contact with Daniel and Sharon Bitner. Daniel stated that he had been arguing with his wife, Sharon, and that she was going to call the police when he took the phone from her.
Sharon stated that she and Daniel then began to wrestle then she slapped him. Daniel then told Officer Barth that he slapped Sharon back and took their daughter’s cell phone to prevent her from calling the police. The officer reported that Sharon’s ear was red and swollen.
Daniel Bitner was arrested and charged with domestic assault and interference with emergency calls. He was later released on his own recognizance.
