South Carolina man says he found stolen car “on side of the road”

29-year-old Eric Locklear was charged with theft of property, possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia after he told police that he found a car on the side of the road and took it.

On October 1st, Mt. Juliet Police Officer Angle arrived at Mapco on 194 South Mt. Juliet Road in response to a call about a possible stolen car. After running the license plate through the reader, the officer discovered the 2007 Honda CRV was reported stolen on September 20th in Whitehall, Ohio.

Officer Angle watched Eric Locklear get into the vehicle. While speaking with Locklear, he stated that he found the vehicle on the side of the road and took it. Officer Angle searched the vehicle and located a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana in a jar under the radio and a glass pipe under the steering wheel.

Eric Locklear was charged with theft of property, possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
