Teen caught on camera, shoots at man who spoke to his girlfriend at Geri’s Market

18-year-old Steven Ellis was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a firearm, reckless endangerment, and vandalism after he fired three shots at a man’s vehicle who called 911 about their earlier altercation.

On October 21st, Lebanon Police Field Training Officer Byrnes was dispatched to Geri’s Market located at 638 Leeville Pike for shots fired at a vehicle. Kaven Ervin told officers that he pulled into Geri’s Market to talk with two females that were walking near the business. The report stated that Steven Ellis approached Ervin and informed him that his girlfriend was one of the females. Ervin stated that he and Ellis had a verbal disagreement and Ervin left the business and reported the incident to law enforcement. Per the affidavit, Ervin was on the telephone with 911 dispatch when asked if Ellis was still at Geri’s Market.

Ervin stated that when he turned around and head back to the market he saw Ellis standing outside. Ellis, reportedly, fired three shots from a pistol striking Ervin’s vehicle as he drove by. Officer Byrnes arrived and detained Ellis for questioning a short distance away from the scene. After being Mirandized, Ellis gave Officer Byrnes the location of the pistol and admitted to shooting at Ervin. Officer Byrnes reviewed the business’s security camera footage which was consistent with the statements given by Ervin.

Steven Ellis was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon during the commission of a dangerous felony, reckless endangerment, vandalism greater than $1,000, and unlawful possession of a weapon. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $18,000 bond.

  1. This is Kaven Ervin. The victim tha got shot at. You are givin out false information. I did NOT get out of my car at geris. I DID not talk to the women. I did NOT have the chance to get out of my car before steven pulled out his gun. Stop posting false news. I never stated that i spoke to the women. Take my name off this artlicle or im filling a report at the police dpt. I do NOT want my name posted online for my safety.
