Trooper smells marijuana that Gordonsville woman denies is her vehicle

18-year-old Brooklyn Albritton was charged with possession of marijuana after a state trooper smelled marijuana during a traffic stop for her speeding.

On October 8th, Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Topps stopped Brooklyn Albritton on Interstate 840 for speeding. Albritton was driving 96 mph in a 70 mph zone. When Trooper Topps approached the vehicle, he smelled an odor of marijuana. Trooper Topps asked Albritton if she had been smoking to which she stated yes, before driving.

Albritton was asked to perform a field of sobriety test that showed clues of impairment. The trooper asked Albritton if there was any marijuana in her vehicle. She denied that there were any drugs in her car. After a search of the vehicle, the officer found a bag of green leafy substance, believed to be marijuana.

Brooklyn Albritton was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. She was released on a $1,500 bond.
