Man found in bushes after failed attempt to hit girlfriend’s son with shovel

57-year-old Ross Hinchey was charged with aggravated assault after he threatened his girlfriend’s son and attempted to hit him in the head with a shovel after a day of drinking, per report.

On November 14th, Watertown Police Officer Nicholas Deck responded to a domestic call at a residence located at 116 Cornwell Avenue. Brandon Kelly told Officer Deck that Ross Hinchey, his mother’s boyfriend, had been drinking and threatening him all day. The officer’s report stated that Hinchey swung a shovel at his head in an attempt to wack him.

Kelly told officers that Hinchey had threatened to use different tools to assault him but was unable to ever make contact with him due to his level of intoxication. Officer Deck located Hinchey behind a fence in the backyard hiding in the bushes.

Ross Hinchey was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $3,500 bond.
