Man has a few drinks; strangles wife

36-year-old Charles Bernard was charged with assault after he tore up the house, chased his wife into their bedroom, and strangled her.

On October 22nd, Wilson County Sheriff’s Deputy Darbonne responded to a domestic disturbance call at the residence of 1215 Abernathy Way. Upon arrival, Andrea Bernard advised the deputy her husband, Charles Bernard, had been drinking and wanted to get his car keys. Andrea stated Charles got angry and started wrecking the house.

Andrea reported he followed her into the bedroom and with his hand around her neck, slammed her against the wall. She detailed that he strangled her until she could not breathe and feared for her safety.

Charles Bernard was arrested and charged with assault. He was later released on a $1,000 bond.
