Nashville man drives 18-wheeler down interstate with only hazards on, drunk

31-year-old Shawn Soister was charged with driving under the influence and tampering with evidence after the 18-wheeler he was driving drifted across road lines I-840, and he refusing to allow his blood to be drawn with a warrant.

On November 2nd, Wilson County Deputy Rollins was dispatched to a reckless driver call on I-840. When the officer arrived in the area, he observed Shawn Soister, who was driving aft 18 wheeler with the headlights off and with just hazards on, “cross the line a couple of times.”

Deputy Rollins then activated emergency equipment to make a traffic stop, but Shawn didn’t stop until a half mile later. Reportedly, Shawn had a strong odor of intoxicant about his person and he was disoriented. Shawn was then asked to step out of the truck, and he was unsteady on his feet. During a pat down, the deputy found an open bottle of Jack Daniels Honey in Shawn’s jacket. Shawn later denied the sobriety test, and a warrant was taken for a blood test. Shawn refused to comply at the hospital during the blood draw.

Shawn Soister was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and tampering with evidence. He was released on a $3,000 bond.
