According to the affidavit, spike strips were deployed, flattening the tires and stopping the vehicle. Three individuals exited the vehicle, climbed a fence, and fled on foot to an apartment complex. Only one of the individuals, Eugene Llapri, was captured. Eugene claimed that he was alone in the vehicle and admitted to driving a car that was reported stolen out of Franklin, Tennessee.

Further investigation revealed that Eugene was a convicted felon due to his involvement in a drug deal and shootout that occurred in Hendersonville in 2019. A search of the vehicle revealed a Ruger SR 45.
