Man charged after almost striking patrol vehicle while turning

46-year-old Fredy Gomez Simuta was charged with DUI and driving without a license after he failed to stay in his lane, with five empty beer cans in his backseat.

On December 1st, Lebanon Police Officer Parish reported a vehicle making a wide turn into a subdivision, almost striking his patrol vehicle, and then fail to maintain its lane of traffic in the area of North Cumberland Street. The officer stated that after he initiated a traffic stop, the driver, Fredy Gomez Simuta, continued to slowly roll forward a short distance before stopping.

According to the affidavit, there were five empty 16oz Bud Light beer cans on the backseat floor, and Fredy appeared disoriented. He exhibited signs of intoxication, such as red, watery eyes, slurred speech, and unsteadiness on his feet. He performed poorly on all sobriety tasks given. Further investigation revealed Fredy did not have an active driver’s license.

Fredy Gomez Simuta was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without a license. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $1,500 bond.
