Man reports assault, gets charged with public intoxication

54-year-old Wayne Graham was charged with public intoxication after he called the police claiming someone assaulted him, which was determined to be false, and then admitted to drinking prior to calling.

On December 2nd, Mt. Juliet Police Officer Hickson responded to a report of a possible assault at 403 South Sunset Drive. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with Wayne Graham who exhibited signs of intoxication, such as red, watery eyes, slurred speech, and unsteadiness on his feet.

Officer Hickson advised that contact was made with the person Graham accused of assaulting him, and was informed that no assault had occurred. It was noted that Graham smelled strongly of alcohol and he admitted to drinking prior to police arrival. He was then detained for his own and everyone else’s safety.

Wayne Graham was arrested and charged with public intoxication. He was later released on his own recognizance.
