30-year-old Robert Burnett was charged with aggravated assault after police say he tried to smother his child’s mother with a hoodie and held her against a cabinet by her throat.

On December 3rd, Lebanon Police Officer Rusbridge arrived at the residence of Robert Burnett, at 15 Head Homes, in response to a domestic assault call. Upon arrival, Erika Amick advised she got into an argument with her child’s father, Robert Burnett, while they were sitting on the bed.

She reported that Burnett kept pushing his phone into her face, saying “get away from me”, but when she tried to move away from him, he continued to stay in her face. According to the affidavit, Amick pushed him in the face to get away and he responded by kicking her back and her side. He then proceeded to hold her down and try to smother her with a hoodie.

When she was able to escape from him, Burnett followed her, got into her face again, and slapped her multiple times in the face. She stated he grabbed her by her throat and held her against the wardrobe in the living room. Officer Rusbridge noted red marks on Amick’s forehead, cheek, and around her neck.

Robert Burnett was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He was released on a $2,000 bond.
