Woman clips an officer, almost hits two others when speeding at Cahoots

28-year-old Kandice Hunt was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, two counts of evading arrest, DUI, and driving on a revoked license after police say she sped out from behind Cahoots, clipped one officer, and almost hit two others.

On December 13th, Lebanon Police Officer Corporal Barnett was responding to a disorderly subject call at the Cahoots Dance Hall and Honkytonk at 427 South College Street. According to the report, Officer Joshua Vinson and Cody Brown were in the parking lot when they observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed from the back of the building. Cpl. Barnett was able to get driver Kandice Hunt to stop, but when he approached her vehicle on foot, she sped off in the direction of Cody and Officer Vinson, causing her side mirror to clip both of his arms and almost hit the other two.

Kandice continued speeding northbound on Tennessee Boulevard crossing over Park Avenue and Sparta Pike. Cpl. Barnett gave chase and used his patrol vehicle’s emergency equipment to initiate a traffic stop. Kandice came to a stop and attempted to flee on foot in a vacant lot at the Purity Dairies distribution center.

K-9 Officer Jaxx and Officer Parish arrived on the scene and located Kandice. She was taken into custody and found to have red, watery eyes, slurred speech, an odor of intoxicant on her person, and was unsteady on her feet. She admitted to having two double whiskies and a beer before leaving the bar. Kandice has had three prior DUI convictions and has had two prior convictions for driving on a revoked license.

Kandice Hunt was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault, two counts of evading arrest, DUI, and driving on a revoked license. She is currently jailed in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
