National Guardsman DUI: “I’m done with tests, take me to jail” — Jason Davis arrested

35-year-old Jason Duane Davis was pulled over on I-840 by THP after he used the median to turn around. He admitted to drinking earlier in the day, and in the middle of field sobriety tests, stated “I’m done with tests, take me to jail!” The THP Trooper obliged, with a stop for a blood draw along the way. Davis is free on a $500 bond.

ARREST WARRANT / AFFIDAVIT:
On 08/20/2021 at 10:58 am I was on routine traffic patrol on Interstate 840 in Wilson County, Tennessee. I observed a black Cadillac turning around in the median of the interstate to travel eastbound. I proceeded to turn around with the black SUV and initiated my lights and siren to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle.

The black SUV immediately pulled onto the right-hand shoulder of the interstate and the driver’s door flew open and I saw a black male wearing a camouflage uniform step out of the vehicle. I was able to get the male to make his way back to the front of my patrol car. I asked the male for his Identification at which time he stated it was in his back pocket and he stated he did not have a driver’s license.

He had a New Jersey identification which identified him as Jason Davis. Mr. Davis stated he was in the National Guard and is living In La Vergne, Tennessee. Mr. Davis was placed In handcuffs and detained for my safety along with his. Once another Trooper had arrived which was Trooper Chery Mr, Davis began to calm down.

I then asked Mr. Davis If he had insurance on the vehicle be slated it was In the vehicle. Trooper Chery noticed two bottles, small bottle of bourbon in the cup holder of the vehicle. I then went back to my patrol car and asked Mr. Davis if he had anything to drink today, be stated the last alcoholic beverage he had was at 6 am this morning.

I asked Mr. Davis if he would be willing to perform field sobriety tests at which time he stated yes. I was able to administer the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus In which he showed clues in both eyes. Upon explaining the Walk and Turn Mr. Davis stated he was done with the test and wanted me to take him to jail, Mr. Davis was then placed under arrest for Driving under the influence of alcohol. He was then transported to Tri-Star In Mount Juliet for a consented blood draw. He was then transported to Wilson County Jail and charged with Driving Under the Influence TCA: 55-10-401.
