Lebanon man with BB gun threatens officer, says “I got something for your ass”

38-year-old Robert Owen Smith was charged with aggravated assault after threatening a Gallatin reserve police officer with a BB gun.

On May 11th, Robert Smith and a woman fought at the Burkes Outlet on 619 S. Cumberland Street. Officer Matt Wiggins of the Lebanon Police Department had responded to the call about the initial fight. Wiggins was told that Gallatin reserve officer Khristopher Higgins had witnessed the incident and that Higgins followed the pair to Parlow Funeral Home located at 602 S. Cumberland Street. There, Smith pointed what looked like a handgun at Higgins and said, “I got something for your ass.”

Higgins said Smith took off in a vehicle and Higgins again followed him. Around 215 W. Adams St., Smith threw what looked like a handgun to the reserve officer out of his vehicle. Lebanon police stopped Smith at West Spring Street and South Maple Street. Smith admitted to pointing a BB gun at Higgins said he threw it out because he was scared. Lebanon police found the BB gun near 215 W. Spring Street.

Robert Owen Smith was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. His bond was set at $2,000.
