Man reports robbery but officer finds his pipe; tries to get rid of the evidence

39-year-old Verdell “Delly Dell” Sesley was charged with unlawful paraphernalia and tampering with evidence after he told police he was robbed and asked for a ride which resulted in the officer finding a glass pipe.

On August 30th, Lebanon Police Officer David Winfree responded to an assault at Dix Motor Lodge located at 319 West Main Street. When Winfree arrived he made contact with Verdell “Delly Dell” Sesley who stated he was from Memphis and had been robbed and assaulted. Delly then asked for a ride to Market Street where he was staying. The officer told him he would need to be searched for safety reasons before getting into the patrol vehicle. Officer Winfree found a glass pipe with residue from smoking contraband in Delly’s pant pocket during the pat-down. Winfree set the pipe on his patrol car and Delly grabbed the pipe then threw it into the grass, but it was easily recoverable.

Verdell (Delly Dell) Sesley was arrested and charged with unlawful drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence. He was released on his own recognizance.
