28-year-old Troy Fitzgerald was charged with DUI and possession of a handgun while intoxicated after wrecking his vehicle.
On January 15th, officers were dispatched to a vehicle accident on Hickory Ridge Road where they made contact with the driver and identified him as Troy Fitzgerald. Police stated that Troy smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech. Officers asked if he had consumed any alcohol and Troy admitted to having “a few beers at Whiskey River.”
Troy was then asked to perform a standard field sobriety test. Troy subsequently performed poorly, exhibiting signs of impairment throughout all aspects of the test. Officers also found a loaded handgun inside Troy’s vehicle. Troy Fitzgerald was arrested and charged with DUI and Handgun While Intoxicated. He was later released on his own recognizance.
