Traffic stop leads to DUI charge for Lebanon man

31-year-old Jonathan Gillis was charged with DUI after he was stopped for speeding while driving home from Nashville.

On March 14th, Trooper Topps observed a vehicle traveling over the posted speed limit and initiated a traffic stop. Upon contact, the driver Jonathan Gillis stated that he and his friend were returning from Nashville and had not been drinking. Trooper Topps smelled the odor of alcohol coming from Jonathan’s person and breath.

Trooper Topps also noted that Jonathan had red watery eyes, slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet. Jonathan performed a Standard Field Sobriety Test and exhibited signs of impairment throughout all aspects of the test. Jonathan was then taken into custody and transported to booking.

Jonathan Gillis was arrested and charged with DUI. He was later released on his own recognizance.
