Biker pulled over for not wearing a helmet charged with DUI

Feat Harris Mark

56-year-old Mark Harris was charged with driving under the influence when officers spotted him on his motorcycle without a helmet, and he was unsteady on his feet when he was told to step away from the bike.

On July 28th, Officer Brownlee advised that during his patrol on West Main Street he came across a male biker at the traffic signal without a helmet. The officer performed a traffic stop near 241 West Main Street and spoke with Mark Harris. While questioning Harris, he seemed to be confused and had difficulty locating the documentation that Officer Brownlee requested.

When the officer asked for Harris to step away from the vehicle, he had difficulty staying on his feet. Officer Brownlee asked if he had taken any drugs recently and Harris advised him that all he had taken was his prescription Clonazepam. Harris was given four field sobriety tasks to complete and showed signs of impairment during each task.

Mark Harris was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. He was later released on his own recognizance.
