55-year-old Shelley Baird and 62-year-old James Baird were charged with aggravated assault after they abused their 14-year-old granddaughter.
On August 12th, authorities came to 3410 Mcvie Court in response to a domestic dispute. Discussion with James Baird and Shelley Baird revealed that there was a dispute between the two of them and their granddaughter. The granddaughter was with the neighbor at the time, and officers noticed she had damage to her arm, thigh, cheek, and redness around her throat.

The altercation began when the granddaughter was on the phone with her aunt, and Shelley slapped the young woman twice with an open hand. James followed this act when he took the young girl’s phone, hit her in the face with his fist, threw her onto the ground, and then pressed his forearm down on her throat causing her to have issues breathing.
Shelley and James Baird were both charged with aggravated assault. They were both later freed on their own recognizance.
