Man found with beer in pocket after trying to sell alcohol to a minor

39-year-old Steven Purkerson was charged with public intoxication after he tried to sell alcohol to a juvenile and then fled to the parking lot of 231 Car Sales.

On August 8th, Officer Reynolds responded to a call at Raceway for someone trying to sell alcohol to a minor. Before police could get there, Steven Purkerson left and he was located at 231 Car Sales at 500 South Cumberland Street.

Mr. Purkerson smelled of alcohol, had red watery eyes, slurred speech, and a closed beer in his pocket. He was arrested for the safety of himself and the general public due to his level of drunkenness.

Steven Purkerson was arrested and charged for public intoxication. He was later released on his own recognizance.
