38-year-old Richard Jones was charged with theft of property when police made contact with him in response to an accident on I-40 and found his vehicle to be stolen out of Nashville.
On August 28th, MJPD Officer Youmans was dispatched to a possible accident on I-40 East near MM 238. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with Richard Jones, who was sitting in a 2000 Isuzu box van.
A subsequent check of the tag showed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Metro Nashville the day prior. The vehicle had an estimated value of $15,000.
Richard Jones was arrested and charged with theft of property. His bond was set at $35,000.
