Teen admits to taking Xanax and acid after wrecking his vehicle

19-year-old Damian Collins was charged with driving while under the influence after getting into an accident on South Commerce Road and admitting that he had taken drugs prior to the incident.

On August 29th, Tennessee Highway Patrol was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving a single party at the 1700 of South Commerce Road in Watertown. Trooper Brandon Hart spoke to the driver of the vehicle who identified himself as Damian Collins. Trooper Hart noted that during questioning, Damian’s speech was slurred and he was unsteady on his feet.

When the officer asked if he had taken any illegal substances, Damian admitted to taking Xanax and acid before wrecking the vehicle. Trooper Hart performed four field sobriety tests and Damian showed signs of impairment during each task.

Damian Collins was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. His bond was set at $2,000.
