Man states “it was me, but that dude cut me off and hit me” after hit and run

24-year-old Junior Aquino was charged with DUI, vehicular assault, and leaving the scene of an accident after he hit two vehicles causing two injuries but continued driving to Jonathan’s Grille.

On November 8th, Mt. Juliet Police Officer Jordan Brown responded to an accident involving two vehicles and injured citizens near Kroger on 401 South Mt. Juliet Road. Upon arrival, witnesses stated a red pickup truck ran the stop sign behind Kroger and hit an SUV. Witnesses also advised there was already damage to the front of the vehicle. Officer Alecia Martin also reported a hit-and-run prior to this incident that involved the same red pickup truck rear-ending another car.

According to the affidavit, a Hispanic man wearing a Raiders jersey was seen exiting the truck and going into Jonathan’s Grille, located at 631 South Mt. Juliet Road. Officer Brown advised that he entered the restaurant and an employee pointed out Junior Aquino to him. Reportedly, when asked if he had been involved in an accident, Aquino excitedly replied “it was me, but that dude cut me off and hit me.” Officer Brown stated he initiated several sobriety tests, to which Aquino performed poorly on and further investigation revealed that his license was suspended. This was Aquino’s third offense of driving with a suspended license. His actions caused two innocent people to be injured and he did not report either accident.

Junior Aquino was arrested and charged with DUI, driving on a suspended license third offense, two counts of vehicular assault, two counts of leaving the scene of an accident, and two counts of failure to report an accident. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $26,000 bond.
