Expired tag leads to crystal meth & marijuana arrest

MT JULIET, TN – Mt. Juliet Police Officer Justin Angle made a traffic stop Thursday on Pleasant Grove Road for an expired tag. As he approached the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Steven M. Thomas, of Lebanon, the officer says he smelled marijuana coming from within the vehicle.

Thomas admitted to having marijuana in his jacket pocket, where a metal grinder was also found. A search of his vehicle resulted in the seizure of 1.7 grams of crystal methamphetamine, along with a glass pipe.

Steven M. Thomas, 44, was charged with simple possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia as a result of the stop. Addition charges of failure to appear, and a probation violation were also served on him once in custody. Thomas remains jailed in lieu of a $13,500 bond.
