Former THP Trooper charged with DUI in Mt. Juliet

Michael Dunn, former THP Trooper, and current TDOT employee, was arrested May 18th, charged with DUI (driving under the influence) on Mt. Juliet Road.

Mt. Juliet Police Cpl. Valsaint observed a vehicle driven by 36-year-old Michael Clifford Dunn, of Watertown, traveling on Mt. Juliet Road that was having difficulty maintaining the proper lane of travel. Upon contact with the driver, police noted him to have red, watery eyes, and a slurred speech pattern, along with an odor of alcohol.

Dunn told police he consumed a beer earlier, during dinner, and showed signs of impairment on all field sobriety tests. Dunn booked into the Wilson County Jail, charged with DUI 1st, and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court in August.

A spokesperson for THP says Dunn left the Department in October for another local agency. A state salary database confirmes Dunn is now employed by the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT). TDOT had not yet responded to our inquiry at the time of publication.
