Michel Javon McFarland is free on a $1,000 bond after police chased him on foot into a ditch after an off-duty officer said he jumped a fence and ran after being accused of smoking marijuana at a pool party.
Mt. Juliet Police Cpl. Christopher Barth responded to a notification from an off-duty officer that a man jumped a fence and ran after being accused of smoking marijuana at a Mt. Juliet pool party near S. Greenhill Road & Lebanon Road.
The officer caught up with the man, identified as 18-year-old Michael Javon McFarland, in a nearby ditch, where he was found to be in possession of a backpack containing a small yellow baggy with marijuana inside. McFarland was charged with simple drug possession and evading arrest. After being booked into the Wilson County Jail, Jucidial Commissioner Patricia Hamblin set his bond at $1,000, which he posted and was released within a few hours.
