55-year-old Donna Marie Wooten is charged with domestic assault after police say she punched her husband in the face until he was bruised and bleeding. She says they ‘had only rolled around’, but witnesses observed the assault at the TN 40 & RV Park.
Lebanon Police Officer Allison Humes responded to the TN 40 & RV Park just before shortly before midnight on September 14th, to a domestic disturbance call. The male victim reported his wife, 55-year-old Donna Marie Wooten had assaulted him after a verbal argument escalated.
The husband reported that Donna Wooten struck him about the face and upper body with her closed fists, and redness and bruising was noted on the incident report, in addition to a busted lip and blood coming from below the victim’s left eye. Donna had fled the scene but was located at a nearby neighbor’s residence. When interviewed, she told officers she and her husband “had only rolled around together”, however, a witness observed the assault. Donna Wooten was released on her own recognizance after the state-mandated 12-hour domestic violence hold and is scheduled to appear in court in November.
