41-year-old Candice Beavers remains jailed in lieu of a $4,500 bond after Mt. Juliet Police say she attempted to flee Belk with unpaid merchandise and pepper-sprayed a loss prevention employee in the process.
Mt. Juliet Police PofficerCameron Hoppe responded to the Belk Store on September 26th, in response to a shoplifter being detained. Upon arrival, he made contact with the store’s loss prevention employee who stated a female subject, identified as Candice Beavers, had entered the store, placed $98.96 worth of merchandise in her purse, and attempted to flee the store with the unpaid merchandise.
On Beavers’ way out of the store, the loss prevention employee initially attempted to detain her, and she pepper-sprayed him, also contaminating approximately $2,100 worth of merchandise in the immediate area. The employee fought through the pepper spray and detained Beavers, and pulled the video of the incident for police to review.
Candice Michelle Beavers, 41, was taken into custody on charges of theft of merchandise, assault, and felony vandalism. She remains jailed in lieu of a $4,500 bond, and her case was bound over to the Grand Jury on October 1st.
