Maynardville man charged after police find him in a stolen rental car with heroin and syringes

30-year-old Justin Collins was charged with theft of property, possession of heroin, and drug paraphernalia when an automatic license plate recognition system found a vehicle that had been stolen February 25th from a Nashville Avis. He was driving the vehicle and heroin was found under the driver’s seat.

On April 26th, Officer Marcus Hickson was notified by the automatic license plate recognition system of a stolen vehicle on Mount Juliet Road. The vehicle had been rented for a single day from a Nashville Avis and was reported stolen on February 25th. When the vehicle stopped at a Shell station the officer took the opportunity to approach the driver, identified as Justin Collins. A plastic bag of heroin and several needles were discovered in the vehicle.

Justin Collins was arrested and charged with theft of property, possession of heroin, and drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $5,000.
