33-year-old Nakita Gardner was charged with domestic assault after striking her boyfriend in the face twice after he destroyed a birthday cake because she threw her engagement ring at him.
On June 20th, Nakita Gardner, the defendant, spoke to Officer Oakley at 155 Legends Drive about her and her boyfriend’s, Ryan Barrs, argument. She told police that she was driving when Barrs became upset and destroyed a birthday cake because she threw her engagement ring at him.

They both exit the vehicle to cool down and the argument becomes physical when Gardner punched Barrs on the left side of his face once and slapped him on the same side. Barrs told police the same story and that he did not hit her. She was placed into custody when she was found to be the primary aggressor due to the redness and swelling consistent with their stories on Barrs’s face.
Nakita Gardner was arrested and charged with domestic assault. She was later released on her own recognizance.
