27-year-old Jacques Auston was charged with theft of property after he was caught on Benders Ferry Road in Mt. Juliet with a vehicle he rented from Avis Car Rental at Nashville International Airport that was scheduled to be returned on June 16th.
On July 4th, MJPD Officer Roderick Jones received a hit on the Guardian Shield LPR (License Plate Reader) system on a 2019 Nissan that was reported stolen on June 16th. The vehicle was at the Corner Market located at 20 Benders Ferry Road. The officer made contact with Jacques Auston, the driver of the vehicle.
A computer check verified the tag matched the vehicle that was reported stolen. According to the affidavit, Jacques rented the vehicle from Avis Car Rental located at Nashville International Airport and was scheduled to be returned on June 10th. The vehicle was valued at over $10,000.
Jacques Auston was arrested and charged with theft of property. His bond was set at $5,000.
