Arrest: felon in possession of Smith & Wesson

34-year-old Michaela Taylor-Coomer was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon when she was found in a vehicle within arm’s reach of a loaded Smith & Wesson M&P-9.

On August 19, Wilson County Sheriff’s Officer Hackett stopped a vehicle at Head Court and Bluebird Road that Michaela Taylor-Coomer was a passenger in. A computer check revealed that Taylor-Coomer had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. After placing Taylor-Coomer into custody, the officer searched the vehicle due to a strong smell of marijuana.

A bag on the passenger side, within the immediate reach and control of Taylor-Coomer, contained a Smith & Wesson M&P-9 pistol. The pistol had a round in the chamber and the inserted magazine was loaded with eight additional rounds. Taylor-Coomer was convicted of Felony Sale of Crack Cocaine in 2009.

Michaela Taylor-Coomer was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and she is jailed in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
