Florida man wrecks vehicle after evading police; screams racial slurs during arrest

31-year-old Billy Starnes was charged with DUI, reckless endangerment, evading arrest, driving without a license, and disorderly conduct when he drove away from a traffic stop and slammed into a truck and a law office. He told police that his girlfriend was smoking crack with people of a different race.

On August 1st, Deputy Beaty witnessed a vehicle moving in and out of the lane several times on East Baddour Parkway in Lebanon. When he tried to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle fled and slammed into the back of a parked truck after failing to obey traffic devices.

The crash caused damage to the parked vehicle as well as the Law Offices of Hugh Green. The driver was later identified to be Billy Starnes after he was taken out by the officer. During the time he was being detained, he was yelling racial slurs and acting under the influence of a drug by being fidgety and being unable to answer simple questions, according to the affidavit.

Starnes also screamed that his girlfriend was smoking crack with people of a different race than him. He threatened that he would be combative with the first person who took his handcuffs off of him. After running him through the computer system they found that he was unlicensed in Florida for failing to complete mandated courses.

Billy Starnes was arrested and charged with DUI, reckless endangerment, evading arrest, driving without a license, and disorderly conduct. His bond was set at $8,000.
