Heroin found in the rectum of an intoxicated Antioch man

49-year-old Spencer Amonette was charged with possession of heroin, drug paraphernalia, DUI, and evading arrest after an officer observed him almost cause a multiple vehicle collision on Interstate 40.

On August 17th, Officer Martin was dispatched to I-40 East Bound at the 229-mile marker for a reckless driver. The vehicle was described as a gray Nissan Sentra. Officer then came in contact with the Nissan and observed the vehicle swerving over into the fast lane several times almost causing a collision with other vehicles. The officer activated his lights and sirens around exit 235 but Spencer Amonette did not stop until they approached exit 238.

Officer Martin approached the vehicle and detained Amonette for his safety. Upon search of Amonette’s person, a needle was found in his back pocket. A consent search of the vehicle found cut straws with white powder residue and a coke can bottom with melted white residue. Field sobriety tasks were given but Amonette could not perform due to medical problems. He refused implied consent to draw blood so a search warrant was obtained. Upon entering into the booking area, a plastic bag with pink powder was found in his rectum area believed to be heroin.

Spencer Amonette was arrested and charged with possession of heroin, drug paraphernalia, DUI, and evading arrest. His bond was set at $7,500.
