Intoxicated man steals baseball bag from garage

29-year-old Douglas Tompkins was charged with public intoxication, aggravated burglary, and possession of heroin after stealing a baseball bag out of the garage of someone who knew him.

On August 25th, WCSO Deputy Conner was dispatched to 804 Green Valley Road where they spoke with Kathryn and Jennifer Selley. Jennifer’s boyfriend Sean Blackard heard the basement door close and saw a man they knew, Douglas Tompkins, leaving the garage with bags.

Tompkins was found down the road, but only with a bag of his own belongings. The officers found a bag with baseball things inside of it just outside of the house. Thompkins had obvious signs of intoxication and a used needle was found in his bag.

Tompkins was transported to Wilson County Jail. When Deputy Conner left booking and began cleaning out his vehicle, a red bottle cap wrapped in cellophane was found with a green powdery substance that was believed to be heroin. When Tompkins was asked about it, he admitted it was his.

Douglas Tompkins was arrested and charged with public intoxication, aggravated burglary, and possession of heroin. His bond was set at $4,500.
