59-year-old Craig Smith was charged with DUI and driving without a license when officers received a call about a reckless driver “all over the roadway” on Pleasant Grove Road in Mt. Juliet.

On August 5th, Officer Smith responded to a call for dispatch for a reckless driver at Lowes on Pleasant Grove Road. The caller reported they witnessed the vehicle driving to Murphy Oil and that it was “all over” the roadway. The officer was able to catch up with the driver while they were still located at Murphy Oil. Officer Smith was able to identify the driver as Craig Smith. As the officer confronted him, he noticed the strong odor of alcohol on his breath and body.

When Smith removed his sunglasses the officer observed that he had bloodshot eyes and his pupils were dilated. Officer Smith asked if he had anything to drink, and he responded that he had not been drinking. The officer asked him to perform some field sobriety tests, and he showed clues of impairment. A search in the police database showed Smith had two prior DUIs on December 24th, 2016, and April 13th, 2017. He had a valid identification card but not a valid driver’s license.

Craig Smith arrested and charged with DUI and driving without a license. His bond was set at $6,000.
