Mt. Juliet man found with 18 empty Fireball bottles hits utility pole

48-year-old Danny Cothron was charged with DUI after he hit a pole in a parking lot and was found with eighteen empty Fireball bottles in his car.

On August 8th, Officer Drake was dispatched to a crash with injuries. Upon arrival contact was made with driver Danny Cothron who had the strong odor of an intoxicant on and about his breath and person, red watery eyes, slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet. Officer Drake offered one field sobriety test which Cothron exhibited clues of impairment.

Officer Drake had to stop testing for the safety of Cothron as he was having difficulty standing. Officer Drake found eighteen empty Fireball containers in the vehicle, some to which were still cold. Witness Marian Blackmon was almost hit by Cothron, then witnessed him hitting a pole in the parking lot.

Danny Cothron was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. He was later released on his own recognizance.
