Man found slumped over steering wheel in Exxon parking lot with empty bottles inside

35-year-old Angel Cana Ixcaco was charged with driving under the influence after he was found slumped over the steering wheel in an Exxon parking lot.

On August 16th, at 125 North Mount Juliet Road, Corporal Simco Valsaint observed a vehicle in the Exxon parking lot with all the lights on and one person slumped over the steering wheel. When Cpl. Valsaint neared the vehicle a strong odor of alcoholic beverage was emanating from it. The corporal tried to awaken Angel Cana Ixcaco, but he was unresponsive at first. A minute or so later, Cana Ixcaco awoke appearing to be very confused. He spoke broken English with slurred speech and watery eyes. He was asked if he had been drinking and admitted to having consumed two alcoholic beverages.

When the corporal asked Cana Ixcaco to exit the vehicle he was unsteady on his feet. Cpl. Valsaint performed several standardized field sobriety tests and Cana Ixcaco exhibited impairment. The vehicle was searched and two 200 milliliters (mL) bottles of Patron Silver tequila were found in the center console, one of which was empty and the other approximately three-fifths of the way empty. There was also an empty 24-ounce beer under the driver’s seat and another 200mL bottle of tequila under the passenger’s seat.

Angel Cana Ixcaco was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. His bond was set at $1,500.
