Mt. Juliet man charged with DUI found with open container and soiled pants

36-year-old Brian Chappell was charged with driving under the influence for the first time when he was found on the shoulder of I-40 with an open container and urinated trousers.

On July 15th, Lebanon Police Officer Chase Rusbridge responded to a possible impaired driver on Interstate 40 near mile marker 234. According to the affidavit, the officer found Brian Chappell on the shoulder and immediately recognized the smell of an alcoholic beverage.

The report also noted an open adult beverage container in the vehicle and that Chappell had peed in his pants. Chappell admitted to imbibing booze and was unable to perform all sobriety tasks due to physical handicaps. In the tasks he did complete, he showed signs of impairment.

Brian Chappell was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. He was later released on his own recognizance.
