Woman rear ends husband’s vehicle, rams police car with her kids present

32-year-old Mariam Banoub was charged with vandalism, two counts of reckless endangerment, and two counts of aggravated assault when she rear ended her husband’s vehicle during an argument, then rammed a police patrol vehicle while her two children were in the car.

On August 5th, an officer received a dispatch for a two-car accident in the Winslow Drive area of Mt. Juliet, but when the officer arrived the vehicles had fled. At this time the officer noticed a vehicle matching the description pulling into a driveway at 5049 Winslow Drive.

He pulled into the driveway behind the defendant, Mariam Banoub, who had her two children in the vehicle as well. Banoub saw him and put her car in reverse, ramming his vehicle before he could get out. After he was able to place her into custody, he contacted the victim of the car accident.

Her husband Owsama Elmoawad said they were arguing when she took the children and left in his car. He got into her car which she began to follow and rammed into the rear of the vehicle which was caught on camera by the neighbor’s doorbell camera. The officer estimated that the amount of damage that she did to his patrol vehicle was $625.

Mariam Banoub was arrested and charged with vandalism, two counts of reckless endangerment, and two counts of aggravated assault. Her bond was set at $5,000.
