Intoxicated passenger found with needle after refusing to wake up

26-year-old Brittany Jenkins was charged with public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia after she was given a ride to Pilot Travel Center, refused to wake up and exit the vehicle, and police found her with a needle in her purse.

On September 4th, LPD Officer Allison Humes was dispatched to the Pilot Travel Center parking lot located at 921 Murfreesboro Road in Lebanon. Officer Humes made contact with the owner of the vehicle, who stated that Jenkins refused to get out after they gave her a ride and she fell asleep. The vehicle owner was not able to wake Jenkins up and decided to call law enforcement.

Upon contact with Jenkins, Officer Humes stated that she appeared to be under the influence and refused to be awakened. Officer Humes requested WEMA and Jenkins was given medical attention but refused to be transported. Jenkins was arrested for her own safety and the welfare of the public. A search was performed that revealed a single used capped needle in her purse.

Brittany Jenkins was arrested and charged with public intoxication and drug paraphernalia. She was later released on her own recognizance.
