Intoxicated Watertown man arrested after behaving suspiciously at Twice Daily

41-year-old Charles Bates was charged with public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia when Twice Daily staff reported a suspicious man, and officers discovered a cut straw in his vehicle.

On September 1st, Lebanon Police Officer Matthew Wigger responded to Twice Daily located at 911 South Hartman Drive due to a report of a suspicious male, Charles Bates, in the parking lot. While the officer was questioning Charles, he exhibited signs of disorientation and confusion.

Officer Wigger also noted that his speech was slurred and that he was unable to control his movements. Charles was detained while the police searched his vehicle so it could be towed. During the search of his vehicle, Officer Wigger found a cut blue plastic straw, containing a gray residue that was tucked inside the driver’s side door.

41-year-old Charles Bates was charged with public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was later released on his own recognizance.
